Having a chance to talk with Rabbiteer about their new and first game which is currently running and funded on Kickstarter, Dungeon Derby!

Interview with Rabbitteer:

Dungeon Derby” is the first game by Rabbiteer, currently funded and running on Kickstarter. So, for starters, let us know about your company and its vision!

Rabbiteer wants to make games that people want to play. I feel like a lot of games these days have great marketing and great art, and maybe even a license to help convince you to buy it, almost as if they’re compensation for a lackluster gameplay. We don’t want to be that. We want to focus on the gameplay first and then get cool art and an enjoyable marketing experience.

What is the inspiration behind the dungeon racing theme?

We wanted to pick a setting that was appealing to all and would give us a good resource to draw from for mechanics one would find on the racetrack!

Which is your favorite Champion and why?

My favorite champion is Captain Tiberius. A half pirate, shark man, with a giant cannon as a weapon

What was the greatest challenge that you faced during the designing and development of the game?

The rulebook. Its super easy to come up with fun and diverse mechanics but when its time to explain those fun and diverse mechanics in only a couple lines things get tough.

What kind of gaming experience do you want to create to players and for what kind of gamers is it suitable for?

When you play dungeon derby it isn’t unlikely to find people screaming at the board, cheering their racer on and pacing by the table! That’s the experience I wanted to create. The game is super easy to learn and understand that anyone can have fun playing with anyone. Adults and kids alike.

What is your favorite element or mechanic of the game?

I think my favorite mechanic in the game is the spell cards. With just a glance you may think that dungeon derby Is a very luck heavy game, Although the spells and encounters really create an awesome element of Witt and strategy.

Which part of the crowdfunding experience do you enjoy the most?

The communication with the backers. So far we have had a super good relationship with our backers and they have helped us decide a few elements going into the game. We have a ton more things to decide with our backers so stay tuned!

What can we expect from “Rabbiteer” in the future?

Many more fun games to come. You can expect to love dungeon derby and we are working on even more mechanics to add in as expansions in future versions as well as completely new games where the fun is the most important rule of all!

Don`t forget to read our preview of Dungeon Derby and check if it’s right up your alley!
