West of Africa is an economic and farming game, which has been designed according to some historical events.

In the late Middle Ages, the Canary Islands fell into decline, since there was no gold or silver and the islands could not contribute in any way to the trade of that time. But in the 15th century, the islands came to the front. The Spanish conquered the archipelago and boosted agriculture, by cultivating sugar cane, grain and producing wine. In this way, the islands regained their economic value and significance.

In West of Africa, players have to cultivate goods, sell them making the greatest profit and build settlements, always keeping the other players’ actions in mind.

In 2015, West of Africa won the prize in the Hippodice design competition.
