Restaurant Detective – Kickstarter Overview!
Restaurant Detective is a social deduction party game with beautiful art and eye-catching components. In addition, it’s easy to learn and play, making it perfect for casual gamers and high-count groups!
Something disturbing is happening. Our precious Guest’s food is gone, it must be the Food Thief! We, detectives, have to bring light to this case asap!
If you are on the detecitves’ team, catching the thief before the game ends is your goal. But, as the notorious thief, you are trying not to get caught, while hiding among the detectives!
In Restaurant Detective, each player starts with a random identity card. This depicts if you belong to either the Restaurant Detective Team or the Food Thief Team. All characters remain hidden, except the Guest.
As the Guest, your role is to give the right clues to your teammates, as you know who the thief is, what they ate and which is the clue card. Essentially, you know the solution to the game, which you try to communicate only by giving hints. Hint cards have a word on them and the Guest can link each card with the food, the clue or with neither, showing it’s irrelevant to the solution.
The game goes through two rounds and a final Catch phase, where you all get the chance of finding the solution to the game. A round consists of an Investigation and a Hints phase. On the first, players will get to pick dishes and activate certain actions, while on the latter they offer hint cards to the Guest. These, along with the ones revealed at the start of the game, will offer players clues. Hopefully good enough to ultimately solve the case on the last phase, where each player has one chance to point out the solution, 1 Food + 1 Clue card.
There are more things inside the game, like ways of joining the thief team, scoring for multiple game sessions and more. If you are interested in learning more, make sure to check out their campaign!
Restaurant Detective campaign is live on Kickstarter, with 30+ days to go.
This reminds me of one of my favorite games, CS Files (a.k.a. Deception: Murder in Hong Kong), catching immediately my attention. Furthermore, deduction and bluffing are at the top of my list, a combination I can`t ignore. So, this is definitely a game to check out for me.
