Land of Zion just launched on Kickstarter!

Back in October, Sky Kingdom Games launched Land of Zion as a TCG. The feedback they received from the gamers’ community was stimulating, especially as far as the mechanics and artwork was concerned. However, there were some doubts on the collectable aspect of the game, since gamers felt that they wanted to buy something and know exactly what they were getting.

For this reason, the Land of Zion team gathered all the feedback they needed and after cancelling the October’s Kickstarter campaign, they are relaunching a new format of the game, this time as an Expandable Card Game (ECG).

In this new version of Land of Zion, players can choose from three ways to play. One possible way is the constructed play, in which each player creates a deck of three characters from the Character Deck with a maximum star value of five, along with the matching ability card for each character. Note that each character has a star rating that specifies the rarity of the card from 1 to 3 stars. The game comes with 70 characters from 7 different classes, each with their own role to play in battle. There are 294 unique abilities between the characters and numerous matches and synergies between them as well. Constructed play is recommended for players that are already familiar with the game’s mechanics, while it is also the standard format that is intended for tournament play. A three-character per player game takes about 45 minutes to an hour to complete. For team play, 2 players against 2 players play is recommended, where each one has 2 character cards and up to 4 stars. The updated version now supports up to 8 players instead of 4. Sky Kingdom Games really wanted to focus on team play and give something to the larger gaming groups!

In draft play, each rarity of the character cards are separated into piles and shuffled. Character cards are placed face down on the table and then each player randomly chooses up to 5 stars of rarity from the piles, but up to three character cards. In a 1v1 game, each player can choose one common character (1 star) and two uncommon characters (2 stars) or they may choose two common characters (1 star) and one rare character (3 stars). Draft play is recommended for beginners, while it is great for groups aiming at playing a casual game as well. In a 2v2 game, each player can take up to 4 stars of rarity and up to two character cards.

Finally, there is the free play in which players can feel free to pick any character they like and build a deck with any star value.

Once again, Land of Zion seems to be a promising board game allowing for a variety of play styles and strategies, as well as an effective resource management and tactical gameplay, and we can’t wait to see it getting funded!
