The Morning Roll – Day 33

| Your Opinion

Good morning gamers,

The Devil Pig Games title Kharnage will be hitting stores next year through Asmodee. In this Kickstarter success, you control an army of the fantastic realms in a king-of-the-hill style battle… seriously. The object of the game is to take control of hills with no actual significance, other than to smash the other armies to claim that hill. Expect the game in stores in the first quarter of 2017, and check out a preview of the game here.

In January, look for the new game Light & Dark in stores from AEG. This two player dexterity game has both playing as druids trying to turn the other into either the light side or the dark side. A simple game with an average five-minute play time, you will be flicking discs at each other and playing spell cards for the win.

With more and more board game cafes and hobby stores sprouting up, demand for more events is on the rise, and publishers are catching on to it. Organized Play will likely become the buzz word of 2017, with publishers now creating pages you can use to help set up your events, where you can get some pretty cool promo items. So far you can find Organized Play pages from Iello and Steve Jackson games, who recently announced they will start supporting OP for their upcoming Ogre edition. Asmodee has introduced it for their biggest games last year and it was a big success that drives business and encourages more game play, so expect more publishers to jump on this bandwagon.

Upcoming Board Game Events:

MeepleCon – Melbourne, Australia – Dec 9-11, 2016

AnnoyCon – Stamford, CT, USA – Dec 9-11, 2016

NarbyCon – Gautier, MS, USA – Dec 9-10, 2016

Thanks for stopping by, and we’ll see you next time!

I’m a little ashamed to admit that I am late to the board gaming bandwagon. I briefly dabbled with RPGs and gave up on video games many moons ago, so board gaming never seemed like an option – until I was introduced to King of Tokyo, my gateway game, and it was all uphill from there! Outside of that, I work in entertainment in the true north, strong and free, and spend my off time embracing fatherhood.
