The Morning Roll – Day 6

| Your Opinion

 Oct 10, 2016

Good morning gamers,

In 2015, indie designer Sean Dallas McDonald ran a successful Kickstarter campaign for his game Train Heist, a cooperative board game where players rob a train belonging to a corrupt sheriff. Now, Cryptozoic Games has partnered with Tower Guard Games to release Train Heist nationwide. The game is available now for pre-order and will be released early 2017.

Further expanding on the Android Netrunner universe, Fantasy Flight Games will be releasing New Angeles. In it, players take control of one of the major corporations from the world of Android, attempting to amass the greatest fortune, making deals and taking actions that force you to be both cooperative and competitive. Fantasy Flight already announced the game in the summer, but are now offering an extensive preview of the game on their website.

R&R Games have a couple of light party games on the horizon. First, Ultimate Showdown has players pitting famous figures against each other to see who’s the best in certain scenarios such as planning a party or going on a double date. Then, they have Hashtag Me, where players tell a story while incorporating other player’s hashtags. Both are available for purchase on the R&R Games website.

I’m a little ashamed to admit that I am late to the board gaming bandwagon. I briefly dabbled with RPGs and gave up on video games many moons ago, so board gaming never seemed like an option – until I was introduced to King of Tokyo, my gateway game, and it was all uphill from there! Outside of that, I work in entertainment in the true north, strong and free, and spend my off time embracing fatherhood.
