If you like tile laying games, you’ll be hard pressed to find someone who doesn’t like (save for my husband) or hasn’t at least played Carcassonne. It’s one of the go to “gateway games” for that genre. Originally published in 2000, it has since spawned many expansions as well as stand alone versions. (My personal favorite being South Seas).

Scheduled for release in late October and currently available for preorder is Carcassonne: Amazonas. This will be their third “around the world” installment within the series. This will also be a stand alone version.

In this scenario, players will sail their boats to the Amazon. They will discover abundant wildlife as well as native villages. This is how points will be scored. Whomever reaches the end of the Amazon first will also obtain a bonus reward.

If you’re a fan of the series, then I’m sure you’ll want to add this to your collection.

I’m co-founder and co-CEO of my family. I fell in love with modern board games through my husband-who introduced me to Wil Wheaton’s TableTop-and a few gateway games-Castle Panic, Ticket to Ride, and Smallworld. We’ve been playing ever since. I am passionate about board gaming, and try to introduce as many people as I can to it. I am a stay at home mom to my five kids ages 2 to 11. We’ve introduced to board games to them along the way, and they enjoy them as much as we do. When I’m not playing board games I love being outside- hiking, exploring, kayaking-pretty much most things-as well as spending time as a family unit.
