Kingmaking….it’s a word that sends shivers down the spine of every gamer, right up there along with “analysis paralysis” and “cheaper at retail”. But in all seriousness, it can be frustrating. It’s the concept that some other player, shifted the winning player from one person to another, often taking any feeling of player agency out the window, the “why even bother” of board gaming. For myself though….I have my own set of rules of what is and isn’t kingmaking….and I use those rules to define who did and didn’t win…..not that it matters of course.
