Your goal is to work together and defend the core of the Citadel. You can play the game in two different ways: Missions, which include predefined settings and follow a story line that connects them, while they are ideal for short games, and Campaign, for long games, where the events are randomized and your decisions and actions determine how the game progresses until you get to the final objective. As for the characters, each one of them represents a race in the fantasy world of the game with unique racial traits, strengths and weaknesses. Apart from the race, you must choose your class which defines what you are able to do. Before the enemy reaches the Citadel and the battle begins, you may prepare yourselves by crafting useful items, setting traps or even restructuring the Citadel. No game masters are needed, as the enemy wave is controlled by the invasion cards, which offer a different kind of invasion each time. During the battle, players can perform various combat skills by drawing cards from the class piles they belong to. Working together is the key to successfully defending the Citadel and even when it seems that one of you may be falling in battle, another hero may come to your aid. Defense of the Citadel is live on Kickstarter and the campaign will be running until April 14th.
